Experience

I currently work both in private practice as well as in the voluntary sector with both individuals and couples.

I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and work within the BACP Framework of Ethics and Practice.

I am also a BACP registered independent counsellor.

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Couples Counselling, and my core training is in Psychodynamic counselling. This briefly means that we explore your past to give you insight into your current situation. By uncovering these links with our past feelings and thoughts we can often understand why we unconsciously feel and think as we do now.

I aim to use the counselling style and technique best suited to each individual client or couple, and my overall approach centres on looking at your past, but links it to the present.

I am both a trained adult and child bereavement counsellor, and have vast experience in working with clients who have been bereaved by suicide and sudden death, as well as general bereavement isssues.

I am also a trained couples counsellor, completing my training with the world leading Tavistock and Portman NHS Centre in London, as well as Relate.

I have had experience in working with people with substance abuse, as well as undertaking specialist training in many area's including : Sexual Abuse, Domestic Abuse/violence, Mental Health, Child Protection, Working with those bereaved by Suicide, Drugs Awareness, and Art Therapy (Part 1).
